Pact Packaging – steel drum plant, Rosebank Road

This manufacturing plant manufactures steel drums for customers around NZ. The process involves an array of equipment, manual handling, chemical and other typical production risks. The health and safety function had been inactive for a period of time, consequently there were a wide range of issues.
To address this, Winsland was engage in an interim role, over several months. The work was resurrecting health and safety process which was a priority for the company. Machine guarding, manual handling, managing chemicals, and environmental monitoring feature as Health and Safety challenges. In addition, it focused on controls associate with spray booth operations and use of lockout / tag out procedures. These are standard aspects of the advice Winsland provides clients.
Maritime NZ, Te Atatu

The Maritime New Zealand Oil Spill Response Unit, based in Te Atatū, Auckland, manages oil spill incidents throughout New Zealand. To strengthen its health and safety performance, Maritime New Zealand engaged Winsland to develop a comprehensive yet practical health and safety framework. Rather than replacing existing systems, the framework built on established practices, enhanced key processes, and improved alignment with operational requirements. Consequently we;
Revised health and safety of contractors and the Regional Council in NZ staff who resourced oil spill response events
Reviewed current H&S procedures against ISO 450001 and other standards. They developed a full health and safety framework for Maritime Oil Response function.
Reviewed health and safety procedures for managing Wildlife risks
Facilitated identification and review of controls for critical risks.

Riverhead Apartment complex

Winsland was engaged to undertake health and safety support in the form of regular audits which served to both inform contractors on their performance and provide Receivers with assurance on health and safety on a project under their management. Being accountancy qualified, they were after H&S expertise. They wanted someone who could provide assurance that workplace health and safety risk was being well managed.
We completed monthly audits over several months for the Receiver. This included extensive work with the contractor to address health and safety concerns. The concerns were primarily around working at height, management of dust, and ensuring staff were trained and competent.
