Services provided include; design and implementation of health and safety management systems, contractor management, pre-qualification, auditing and specialist advice on the full range of health and safety issues.
Palladium – St Heliers and Maraetai
This construction company had projects scattered around various locations in East Auckland including St Heliers, Maraetai and Bucklands Beach.
To support the expansion of the company into government contracts they needed to be pre-qualified. This was difficult for the company, not because their practices were a problem but because they pre-qualification relies on the provision of documents and worked examples and Palladium had several gaps – as would most smaller operators.
After unsuccessfully trying to manage the process themselves, they Winsland was engaged to get them pre-qualified. Over the course of a month the necessary evidentiary material was assembled the Palladium were pre-qualified with a mark sufficient to join the panel they were seeking to be part of.
Neighbourhood Construction – Ormiston
Neighbourhood directors wanted to ensure they had a sound foundation of health and safety for their company. Winsland was engaged to provide the health and safety framework and support for its very large master-planned community development in Auckland.
Consequently, what was effectively a green fields site was able to engage a very large workforce in short order, set and maintain highest standards of health and safety and complete the development without serious health and safety incidents for workers, contractors or residents. This justified the directors original decision to invest in a quality health and safety framework from the outset.
Coached site management on contractor management.
Developed the health and safety framework based on ASNZS4801, Regulations and Standards, Approved Codes of Practice and Worksafe guidance – including formats for JSA, Permit to Work and a suite of Safe Work Procedures.
Undertook regular Site HSE audits and provided reporting to Directors to fulfil their HSE governance role.
Drafted the site traffic management plan. Supported incident investigations. Winsland approved SSSP for all contractors on site.

Lumino – Botany Downs
Winsland role was initially engaged to undertake development of health, safety and wellbeing. This included policy, strategy, plan and procedures for the Lumino network of dentists in the Abano chain.
We also filled the health and safety management function in NZ in a business partner capacity on an interim basis. As part of this we designed, tested and implemented health and safety audit procedures for the 150+ dental practices across NZ. The two Lumino practices at Botany were selected as the sites for the initial testing of the audits.
These audits included all aspects of health and safety. They provided a unique insight into the health and safety issues facing small business operations such as this.

Summerset – Flat Bush
Winsland thus provided Summerset with a full suite of health and safety procedures appropriate to the needs of the company. To deploy this extensive training was undertaken across all 28 Summerset villages. This involved care staff, village staff and maintenance.
The aim was to implement systems to support a strong safety culture, and a install a robust set of procedures to manage critical construction risk and enhance already high standards of clinical safety.
Flat bush was the initial site used to roll out and refine this program prior to wider deployment.
