What are policy & procedures ?
What written policies and procedures for health and safety do is identical to what policies and procedures will do for finance, customer management or any other business function – they tell people inside the company how to do things and to what standard.
Most small businesses need very few written policies and procedures – Winsland can give you what you need if it and when is ever needed.
The one policy every business needs is Site Rules. These keep people safe and will cover off most of your site risks.
Why it matters
Frankly, it does not matter in small companies.
Some organisations need a more comprehensive set of policies and procedures. To pass an audit by ACC or against ISO or AU/NZ standards will require one. But there is no legal requirement.
